“마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화받는 삶”
이번 개강 수련회는 단순한 행사나 친목의 시간이 아니라, 학생들이 하나님의 말씀을 통해 자신의 삶을 돌아보고 변화받는 계기가 되는 영적 훈련의 과정이었습니다. 로마서 12장 1-2절의 말씀처럼, 우리는 세상의 가치관을 따라 살아가는 것이 아니라 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화받아 하나님의 선하시고 기뻐하시고 온전하신 뜻을 분별하는 삶을 살아가야 합니다.
학생들은 이번 수련회를 통해 하나님께서 원하시는 삶이 무엇인지 깊이 고민하고, 말씀을 기준으로 살아가는 신앙인의 태도를 배웠습니다. 예배와 기도 가운데 하나님께 자신을 온전히 드리는 헌신의 결단을 내리며, 믿음 안에서 성장하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 찬양 가운데 하나님을 향한 사랑을 고백하고, 기도 속에서 자신의 부족함을 인정하며 하나님의 도우심을 구하는 모습이 곳곳에서 보였습니다.
또한, 다양한 강의와 활동을 통해 세상의 흐름을 따라가기보다, 하나님의 말씀을 기준으로 삼고 살아가는 것이 왜 중요한지를 깨닫게 되었습니다. “이 세대를 본받지 말라”는 성경의 가르침을 따라, 학생들은 세상이 요구하는 성공과 기준이 아니라 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 삶을 선택하기 위해 고민하고 다짐하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 특별히, 수련회의 마지막 날에는 개인적으로 하나님께 삶을 드리는 기도 시간이 마련되었습니다. 많은 학생들이 눈물을 흘리며 자신의 삶을 돌아보았고, “하나님께서 기뻐하시는 거룩한 산 제사로 살아가겠다”는 결단을 하는 귀한 순간들이 있었습니다. 이 시간을 통해 학생들은 자신이 하나님의 자녀로서 어떠한 삶을 살아가야 하는지를 깊이 깨닫고, 신앙 안에서 더욱 굳건해지는 기회를 얻었습니다.
이번 개강 수련회는 단순히 시작을 알리는 행사가 아니라, 학생들이 하나님의 뜻을 발견하고, 세상의 가치가 아니라 말씀을 따라 살아가겠다는 결단을 내리는 은혜로운 시간이었습니다. 이제 학생들은 각자의 자리에서 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 삶을 실천하기 위해 노력하며, 세상을 변화시키는 믿음의 세대로 성장해 나갈 것입니다.
“A Life Transformed by the Renewal of the Mind”
This semester’s opening retreat was not just an event or a time for fellowship, but a spiritual training process where students deeply reflected on their lives through God’s Word and experienced transformation. As Romans 12:1-2 teaches us, we are called not to conform to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds so that we may discern and follow God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will.
Throughout the retreat, students were challenged to reflect on what it means to live a life that is pleasing to God. Through worship and prayer, many students made a commitment to fully dedicate themselves to the Lord, growing in faith and understanding. As they lifted their voices in praise, they expressed their love for God, and during moments of prayer, they acknowledged their weaknesses and sought His guidance.
Through insightful teachings and engaging activities, students also learned the importance of setting God’s Word as their ultimate standard rather than following the world’s ever-changing values. The Scripture commands us, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world”, and students wrestled with the idea of choosing a life that seeks not worldly success but a life that pleases God.
A particularly powerful moment took place on the final day of the retreat, when students had the opportunity for personal prayer and dedication. Many were moved to tears as they reflected on their lives and made the heartfelt decision to offer themselves as a “living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.” It was a sacred time in which students realized what it truly means to be a child of God and committed themselves to walking in faith with renewed conviction.
This opening retreat was not merely a program to mark the beginning of the semester, but rather a life-changing experience where students encountered God, discerned His will, and resolved to live by His Word rather than the world’s standards. Now, they return to their daily lives with a renewed commitment to live as a generation that will bring transformation to the world through faith.
